Alexander Schmemann – prawosławny teolog, profesor teologii liturgicznej i kaznodzieja. Studia ukończył w paryskim Instytucie Teologicznym, tam też podjął pracę w katedrze historii Kościoła. W 1946 przyjął święcenia kapłańskie. W 1951 przeniósł się wraz z rodziną do USA. Był dziekanem w Seminarium św. Włodzimierza w Nowym Jorku.
Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin was a Russian composer and virtuoso pianist. Before 1903, Scriabin was greatly influenced by the music of Frédéric Chopin and composed in a relatively tonal, late-Romantic idiom. Later, and independently of his influential contemporary Arnold Schoenberg, Scriabin developed a much more dissonant musical language that had transcended usual tonality but was not atonal, which accorded with his personal brand of metaphysics. Scriabin found significant appeal in the concept of Gesamtkunstwerk as well as synesthesia, and associated colours with the various harmonic tones of his scale, while his colour-coded circle of fifths was also inspired by theosophy. He is often considered the main Russian Symbolist composer and a major representative of the Russian Silver Age.

Chopin e fdesenvolveu, de forma independente à Segunda Escola de Viena mas através de suas crenças espirituais, uma linguagem musical altamente atonal que pode atualmente ser comparada com composições dodecafônicas e serialistas. Ele hoje é considerado uma das figuras mais importantes da escola russa de composição do inicio do período moderno, tendo influenciado outros compositores como Sergei Prokofiev e Igor Stravinsky. A Grande Enciclopédia Soviética diz de Scriabin: "Nenhum compositor foi mais desprezado e ao mesmo tempo mais agraciado por amor...".
