Zheng Yi is a Chinese writer and a notable figure of the scar literature. Zheng served as the president of Shanxi Branch of the China Film Association, and the president of the Independent Chinese PEN Center. Zheng's well-known works include Feng, Old Well, Scarlet Memorial, and so on. In particular, Feng and Old Well were adapted to films, which won the best film in 1987 Tokyo International Film Festival and the best film in 1988 Hundred Flowers Awards, respectively. Zheng moved to Hong Kong and then to the United States after the Tiananmen Square Massacre in 1989.
