Caleb Carr è un romanziere ed esperto di storia militare statunitense.
Figlio di Lucien Carr, è nato a New York City, ed ha ottenuto un Bachelor of Arts in storia presso la New York University. Autore di molti romanzi tra cui L'alienista, L'angelo delle tenebre, Casing the Promised Land, Killing Time, The Italian Secretary ed il saggio Terrorismo. Perché ha sempre fallito e fallirà ancora. The Italian Secretary, romanzo ancora inedito in Italia, è un romanzo giallo con protagonista il noto investigatore Sherlock Holmes.
