Egerton Smith Castle F.S.A. was an author, antiquarian, and swordsman, and an early practitioner of reconstructed historical fencing, frequently in collaboration with his colleague Captain Alfred Hutton. Castle was the captain of the British épée and sabre teams at the 1908 Summer Olympics.

Elbert Green Hubbard was an American writer, publisher, artist, and philosopher. Raised in Hudson, Illinois, he had early success as a traveling salesman for the Larkin Soap Company. Hubbard is known best as the founder of the Roycroft artisan community in East Aurora, New York, an influential exponent of the Arts and Crafts movement.
Eleanor C. Donnelly was an American poet, short story writer and biographer. She was known as "The Poet of the Pure Soul". Her brother was the lawyer and author Ignatius L. Donnelly, who served as lieutenant governor and U.S. Congressman from the state of Minnesota.
