Aleksander Fredro herbu własnego – polski hrabia, komediopisarz, pamiętnikarz, poeta, ziemianin, oficer, wolnomularz, tworzył w epoce romantyzmu. Uważany jest za najwybitniejszego komediopisarza w historii literatury polskiej.

Aleksandr Sergejevitš Puškin (ven. Алекса́ндр Серге́евич Пу́шкин kuuntele ääntämys (ohje); 6. kesäkuuta (J: 26. toukokuuta) 1799 Moskova – 10. helmikuuta (J: 29. tammikuuta) 1837 Pietari) oli romantiikan ajan venäläinen runoilija ja kirjailija, jota on pidetty koko venäläisen kirjallisuuden ja sen noin vuosille 1820–1880 ajoitetun kultakauden synnyttäjänä.
Aleksis Kivi oli suomalainen kirjailija. Kivi kirjoitti kansallisromaanin aseman saavuttaneen romaanin Seitsemän veljestä (1870), näytelmiä kuten Nummisuutarit (1864) ja runoja.
Alessandro Francesco Tommaso Antonio Manzoni was an Italian poet, novelist and philosopher. He is famous for the novel The Betrothed (1827), generally ranked among the masterpieces of world literature. The novel is also a symbol of the Italian Risorgimento, both for its patriotic message and because it was a fundamental milestone in the development of the modern, unified Italian language. Manzoni also contributed to the stabilization of the modern Italian language and helped to ensure linguistic unity throughout Italy. He was an influential proponent of Liberal Catholicism in Italy. His work and thinking has often been contrasted with that of his younger contemporary Giacomo Leopardi by critics.
Alexander Bain was a Scottish philosopher and educationalist in the British school of empiricism and a prominent and innovative figure in the fields of psychology, linguistics, logic, moral philosophy and education reform. He founded Mind, the first ever journal of psychology and analytical philosophy, and was the leading figure in establishing and applying the scientific method to psychology. Bain was the inaugural Regius Chair in Logic and Professor of Logic at the University of Aberdeen, where he also held Professorships in Moral Philosophy and English Literature and was twice elected Lord Rector of the University of Aberdeen.
