Leonid Nikoláievich Andréyev fue un escritor y dramaturgo ruso que lideró el movimiento del expresionismo en la literatura de su país. Estuvo activo en la época entre la Revolución de 1905 y la Revolución de Octubre de 1917.
Leonid Nikolaievich Andreyev was a Russian playwright, novelist and short-story writer, who is considered to be a father of Expressionism in Russian literature. He is regarded as one of the most talented and prolific representatives of the Silver Age literary period. Andreyev's style combines the elements of realist, naturalist, and symbolist schools in literature. Of his 25 plays, his 1915 play He Who Gets Slapped is regarded as his finest achievement.
Franz Leopold Ranke, ab 1865 von Ranke, war ein deutscher Historiker, Historiograph des preußischen Staates, Hochschullehrer und königlich preußischer Wirklicher Geheimer Rat.
Leopold von Ranke was a German historian and a founder of modern source-based history. He was able to implement the seminar teaching method in his classroom and focused on archival research and the analysis of historical documents. Building on the methods of the Göttingen School of History, he was the first to establish a historical seminar. Ranke set the standards for much of later historical writing, introducing such ideas as reliance on primary sources (empiricism), an emphasis on narrative history and especially international politics (Außenpolitik). He was ennobled in 1865, with the addition of a "von" to his name.
Leopoldo Enrique García-Alas y Ureña, conocido simplemente como Leopoldo Alas o Clarín, fue un escritor y jurista español. Catedrático primero en la Universidad de Zaragoza y más tarde en la de Oviedo, se desempeñó como crítico literario en la prensa periódica de la época, desde donde atacó con punzantes artículos a muchos literatos contemporáneos. Su novela La Regenta (1884) está considerada la obra cumbre de la literatura española del realismo y la mejor novela en castellano del siglo XIX.
