Anna Sergeevna Zhukova was a Russian writer and poet who was one of the first female writers in Russia.

Anna Seward was an English Romantic poet, often called the Swan of Lichfield. She benefited from her father's progressive views on female education.

Anna Sewell was an English novelist. She is known as the author of the 1877 novel Black Beauty, her only published work, which is considered one of the top ten best-selling novels for children, although the author intended the work for an adult audience. Sewell died only five months after Black Beauty's publication, having lived long enough to see her only novel become a success.

Anna Alfredovna Starobinets is a Russian writer and scriptwriter who has been called the "Russian Queen of Horror". She has published novels, short stories and children's books, and describes herself as writing "horror and supernatural fiction for adults, and also fairy and detective stories for children".

Anna Strunsky Walling was known as an early 20th-century Jewish-American author and advocate of socialism based in San Francisco, California, and New York City. She was primarily a novelist, but also wrote about social problems and the labor movement. Born in the Russian Empire in what is now Belarus, she emigrated as a child with her family to New York City in the United States in 1886. After a few years they moved to San Francisco. Strunsky studied at Stanford University, where she met writer Jack London and later became part of a radical group known as "The Crowd", of which London was also a member. They wrote an epistolary novel together, publishing it anonymously in 1903. She wrote a memoir of him after his early death in 1916.

Anna T. Sadlier was a Canadian writer whose novels were of a Catholic nature, and whose works numbered over forty volumes. She began to write when she was about eighteen. Her published works include a number of translations from the French, Italian, and Spanish. Sadlier died in 1932.

Anna Vasilyevna Timiryova was a Russian poet. Born Anna Safonova, she was the daughter of composer Vasily Ilyich Safonov. At the age of 19 she married Admiral Sergey Nikolayevich Timiryov with whom she soon had a son, but whom she divorced in 1918 to join Alexander Kolchak. After Kolchak's execution in 1920, she was arrested several times and served several prison and labour camp sentences. In 1923, she married Vsevolod Kniper, a railroad engineer. She was the mother of painter Vladimir Sergeyevich Timiryov.
