Dmitri Trofimovich Shepilov was a Soviet economist, lawyer and politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He joined the abortive plot to oust Nikita Khrushchev from power in 1957, and was denounced and removed from power. Rehabilitated after Khrushchev's downfall, he lived a largely obscure retirement.

Dmitri Antonovich Volkogonov was a Soviet and Russian historian and colonel general who was head of the Soviet military's psychological warfare department. After research in secret Soviet archives, he published a biography of Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Lenin, among others such as Leon Trotsky. Despite being a committed Stalinist and Marxist–Leninist ideologue for most of his career, Volkogonov came to repudiate communism and the Soviet system within the last decade of his life before his death from cancer in 1995.

Dmitrii Fedotoff-White (1889–1950) was an Imperial Russian Navy officer from Saint Petersburg. He fought for the White forces during the Russian Civil War and wrote a book about his experiences entitled "Survival - Through War and Revolution in Russia" (1939). He also fought for the British and later escaped Russia in 1921.

Dmitrii G. Knorre is a chemist and biochemist, a specialist in chemical kinetics of complex reactions, bioorganic chemistry, and molecular biology. He was a Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1968, and an academician since 1981. He was assigned to the Division of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Chemistry of Physiologically Active Compounds of the Academy and to the Siberian Division since 1981.

Dmitriy Vasilevich Polenov (1806-1878) was the secretary of the Imperial Russian Archaeological Society in Russia in the mid-nineteenth century. His daughter was the artist Elena Dmitrievna Polenova.

Dmitry Nikolayevich Anuchin was a Russian Empire anthropologist, ethnographist, archaeologist, and geographer. He was a member of the Russian Geographical Society and convened the ethnographic sub-section of the 12th Congress of Russian Natural Scientists and Physicians(XII съезда русских естествоиспытателей и врачей) held in Moscow in 1909. Here he pushed for the professionalisation of ethnography as compared to missionaries and amateurs. However he opposed Lev Sternberg's call for the establishment of an imperial bureau of ethnography, fearing that the discipline would become too tied up with the Tsarist bureaucracy.

Dmitry Avaliani was a Russian poet and palindromist, who made "important" contributions to Russian visual poetry. He invented and perfected the Russian ambigram, called listoverten'. This is a short text written so that after rotating 90° or 180° it is legible as a different text, or sometimes the same. Sometimes the two texts together make up one idea, and rhyme. He was especially interested in pantorhyme, anagram and other especially difficult ways of rhyming.
