Donald A. McQuade is an English professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and the author of several books on writing composition, American literature, and advertising. He served as vice chancellor of university relations from 1999 to 2006. McQuade was also the chair of the board of the National Writing Project from 2008 to 2012.

Donald Moffitt was an American author who wrote a number of science fiction novels. Most famous among these are The Genesis Quest and Second Genesis. In the 1950s, Moffitt published approximately 100 short stories under 15 or more pen names, in magazines like Man's Action, Wildcat, Gent, and Monsieur, while editing trade magazines by day. Known for his science fiction, Moffitt later turned his attention to historical mysteries.
