Baron Sir Ferdinand Jacob Heinrich von Mueller, was a German-Australian physician, geographer, and most notably, a botanist. He was appointed government botanist for the then colony of Victoria (Australia) by Governor Charles La Trobe in 1853, and later director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. He also founded the National Herbarium of Victoria. He named many Australian plants.

Ferdinand Ludwig Adam von Saar was an Austrian novelist, playwright and poet.

Baron Ferdinand Friedrich Georg Ludwig von Wrangel was a Baltic German explorer and officer in the Imperial Russian Navy, Honorable Member of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Sciences, and a founder of the Russian Geographic Society. He is best known as the chief manager of the Russian-American Company and governor of the Russian settlements in present-day Alaska.

Ferdynand Antoni Ossendowski was a Polish writer, explorer, university professor, and anticommunist political activist. He is known for his books about Lenin and the Russian Civil War in which he participated.

Ferenc Faludi was a Hungarian poet who has been referred to as "the father of the new Hungarian lyric." Because of Suppression of the Society of Jesus he switched to being in charge of a poorhouse. Before that he had been known as a Jesuit educator, writer, and translator. He spoke near-fluent German and translated William Shakespeare's The Tempest into Hungarian. In addition to that he collected Hungarian folk poetry.
