Gulrukhsor Safieva is a prominent Iranologist, Persian literary figure and Tajik poet. In the late 1970s, Safieva was editor-in-chief of the newspaper Pioneer of Tajikistan. She was known for her contribution to Iranistics, modern Persian poetry and Persian folk songs. She is highly regarded throughout Iranian cultural continent.
Gulzar is an Indian Urdu poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director known for his works in Hindi cinema. He is regarded as one of greatest Urdu poets of this era. He started his career with music director S.D. Burman as a lyricist in the 1963 film Bandini and worked with many music directors including R. D. Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Vishal Bhardwaj and A. R. Rahman. Gulzar also writes poetry, dialogues and scripts. He directed films such as Aandhi and Mausam during the 1970s and the TV series Mirza Ghalib in the 1980s. He also directed Kirdaar in 1993.
Gunārs Priede (1928–2000) was a Latvian playwright, engineer and architect. He was originally a civil engineer for the Soviet government in Latvia who became the most important Latvian playwright of the Soviet era. He penned numerous dramas and comedies with lyrical, metaphorical and realist qualities, reflecting social conditions in Latvia at the time.
Gunhild Maria Elisabet Tegen née Nordling, pen name Tilja, (1889–1970) was a Swedish writer, translator and peace activist. In addition to short stories and autobiographical works, in 1935 she wrote a film script titled En judisk tragedi based on the problems facing the Jews in Europe. From the beginning of World War II, Tegen was active in supporting refugees and contributing to the peace movement. In 1945, as editor of De dödsdömda vittna, she sought to present accounts collected from Jewish refugees, in particular from those detained in concentration camps.
Gunnar Broberg was since 1990 Professor in History of Science and Ideas at Lund University, Sweden. Among other writings, Prof. Broberg has written about the compulsory sterilization activities in Sweden and about the scientist Carl Linnaeus. In 2005 he was elected Chair of the Royal Humanistic Scientific Society in Lund. He was the editor of the book Gyllene äpplen, which won the August Prize (Augustpriset) in 1992.
Bengt Gunnar Ekelöf was a Swedish poet and writer. He was a member of the Swedish Academy from 1958 and was awarded an honorary doctorate in philosophy by Uppsala University in 1958. He won a number of prizes for his poetry.
Gunnar Gunnarsson was an Icelandic author who wrote mainly in Danish. He grew up, in considerable poverty, on Valþjófsstaður in Fljótsdalur valley and on Ljótsstaðir in Vopnafjörður. During the first half of 20th century he became one of the most popular novelists in Denmark and Germany. One time he went to Germany and had a meeting with Hitler and is considered to be the only Icelander to have met him.
Karl Gunnar Harding is a Swedish poet, novelist, essayist and translator, considered 'one of Sweden's foremost poets'. Among his other poetry collections is Starnberger See from 1977. Among his novels is Luffaren Svarta Hästen from 1977. He published the children's book Mannen och paraplyet in 1990. He was awarded the Dobloug Prize in 2011.
