George Oliver Curme, Sr. was an American grammarian and philologist. He is known for writing Grammar of the German Language, and A Grammar of the English Language (1931).
George Oprescu was a Romanian historian, art critic and collector. Born into a poor family, he developed a taste for the fine arts early in life, as well as for the French language, which he taught into his forties. Subsequently, working for the League of Nations, he turned his attention to art history, becoming a professor in the field at the University of Bucharest in 1931. He was also a museum curator and magazine editor, and in 1949 established the Institute of Art History, which he led for two decades until his death. His substantial private collection is now in the hands of various institutions, while his written body of work helped lay the foundation for art history to become a serious discipline in his country.

Georgiy Aleksandrovich Ostrogorskiy, known in Serbian as Georgije Aleksandrovič Ostrogorski and English as George Alexandrovich Ostrogorsky, was a Russian-born Yugoslavian historian and Byzantinist who was widely known for his achievements in Byzantine studies. He was a professor at the University of Belgrade.
Sir George Paish was a British liberal economist of international renown, author of The Defeat of Chaos (1941), as well as Railways in Great Britain (1904), and co-author of Road To Prosperity in 1927. He advocated the free market prior to the First World War, and was at one point advisor to the head of the British Treasury. He also served for a time as co-president of the Anglo-Ethiopian Society.
