Ivor Cutler was a Scottish poet, singer, musician, songwriter, artist and humorist. He became known for his regular performances on BBC radio, and in particular his numerous sessions recorded for John Peel's influential eponymous late night radio programme, and later for Andy Kershaw's programme. He appeared in the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film in 1967 and on Neil Innes' television programmes. Cutler also wrote books for children and adults and was a teacher at A. S. Neill's Summerhill School and for 30 years in inner-city schools in London.
Ivor Bertie Gurney was an English poet and composer, particularly of songs. He was born and raised in Gloucester. He suffered from bipolar disorder through much of his life and spent his last 15 years in psychiatric hospitals. Critical evaluation of Gurney has been complicated by this, and also by the need to assess both his poetry and his music. Gurney himself thought of music as his true vocation: "The brighter visions brought music; the fainter verse".
Major-General Ivor John Caradoc Herbert, 1st Baron Treowen, CB, CMG, KStJ, known as Sir Ivor Herbert, Bt, between 1907 and 1917, was a British Liberal politician and British Army officer in the Grenadier Guards, who served as General Officer Commanding the Militia of Canada from 1890 to 1895. He was made a baronet in 1907 and raised to a barony in 1917.
Ivy Teresa Low Litvinov was an English-Russian writer and translator, and wife of Soviet diplomat and foreign minister Maxim Litvinov. She was also known as Ivy Low, Ivy Litvinova or Ivy Litvinoff.
Ivy Ruckman, formally Iva Mae Myers Ruckman, was an American author of books for children and young adults. Her works include Melba the Brain and Night of the Twisters, inspired by a 1980 tornado event, the latter of which was made into a 1996 movie. Night of the Twisters was a best seller. A graduate of Hastings College, Ruckman lived in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Izabela (Iza) Moszczeńska or Moszczeńska-Rzepecka was a Polish feminist journalist, translator and suffragette. She was the first Polish author to advocate sex education for both girls and boys.
