Johann Christoph Arnold was a Christian writer and pastor. He was the elder of the Bruderhof Communities between 1983 and 2001. Arnold authored 12 books.
Johann Christoph Gatterer was a German historian who was a native of Lichtenau. He was the father of cameralist Christoph Wilhelm Jacob Gatterer (1759–1838) and poet Magdalena Philippine Engelhard (1756–1831). He was a member of the Göttingen School of History.
Johann Christoph Strodtmann (1717–1756) was a German author, writing on theology, philology, classical studies, history of law and history of scholarship, active during the reign of Frederick II.
Strodtmann was born in Wehlau, East Prussia. He was a teacher and school headmaster, from 1750 until his death in 1756 at Osnabrück. He published a study of comparative religion in 1755, proposing that Germanic polytheism and the Israelite religion of the Hebrew Bible shared essential parallels .
His Idioticon Osnabrugense, a glossary of the Westphalian dialect of Osnabrück, is a pioneering work of the dialectology of German.
Johann Crotus, or in his native German Johannes Jäger, hence often called Venator, "hunter", but more commonly, in grecized form, crotus, "archer', was a German Humanist. From the name of his birthplace he also received the Latinized appellation Rubianus and is generally known as Crotus Rubianus.
