Lajos Lóczy Germanized as Ludwig von Lóczy was a Hungarian geologist, paleontologist, and explorer. He was a professor of geology at the University of Budapest from 1886 and directed the Hungarian Geological Institute from 1908. His son Lajos Lóczy (1891-1980) also became a geologist.

Lajos Magyar was a Hungarian Communist journalist and sinologist, active in the Hungarian Soviet Republic of 1919, after the fall of which he was imprisoned by the Horthy regime. In 1922 Magyar went to the Soviet Union as the result of an exchange of prisoners. There he worked on the staff of the Comintern and at the newspaper Pravda. Between 1926 and 1927 he was sent on a diplomatic mission to China. From 1929 to 1934 he served as deputy chief of the Oriental Secretariat of the Executive Committee of the Communist International.

Lajos Nagy was a Hungarian writer. His work covered a number of genres, including travel literature. "He came up with his brief, humoristic stories about animals in the beginning of the 1920s and in 1922 a collection of these short humoresques was published under the title Nonsensical Natural History ." He joined the Hungarian Communist Party in 1945 and is considered to be one of the prominent writers in the style of socialist realism in Hungary.

Lajos Zilahy was a Hungarian novelist and playwright. Born in Nagyszalonta, Austria-Hungary, he studied law at the University of Budapest before serving in the Austro-Hungarian army during the First World War, in which he was wounded on the Eastern Front – an experience which later informed his bestselling novel Two Prisoners.
