Lev Andreevich Navrozov was a Russian author, historian and polemicist, born in Moscow and father of poet Andrei Navrozov. A leading translator of Russian texts into English under the Soviet regime, Navrozov emigrated to the United States in 1972, where he published a best-selling memoir, The Education of Lev Navrozov, and became a prominent Russian dissident.

Lev Nussimbaum, who wrote under the pen names Essad Bey and Kurban Said, was a writer and journalist, born in Kiev to a Jewish family. He lived there and in Baku during his childhood before fleeing the Bolsheviks in 1920 at the age of 14. In 1922, while living in Germany, he obtained a certificate claiming that he had converted to Islam in the presence of the imam of the Turkish embassy in Berlin. He created a niche for himself in the competitive European literary world by writing about topics that Westerners, in general, knew little about - the Caucasus, the Russian Empire, the Bolshevik Revolution, newly discovered oil, and Islam. He wrote under the name of Essad Bey in German.

Lev Ozerov was a Russian-Jewish poet, translator and essayist born in Kiev. Ozerov was the professor of Literary Translation at the Literary Institute until his death. He was one of the first Jewish authors who wrote poems about Babi Yar along with Liudmila Titova and Leonid Pervomayskiy. He visited that place of martyrology of Ukrainian Jews in Kiev immediately after the liberation. His famous epic "Babi Yar" first appeared in the Октябрь (October) magazine March–April 1946 issue. Ozerov served as poetry editor of October (Октябрь) magazine in 1946–1948, one of the more important literary publications at the time.

Lev Konstantinovich Panyutin was a Russian writer, poet and journalist. Panyutin, who debuted as a published author in 1858 in Moscow with the Stikhotverenya (Poems) collection, then moved to Saint Petersburg where he started contributing to Golos, using the pseudonym Nil Admirari, and soon became a popular author of feuilletons which came out in 1872 as a separate two-volume edition. Panyutin was also writing stories, as well as critical and historical essays for Otechestvennye Zapiski, Nedelya and Budilnik.
