Petr Placák, also known under pseudonym Petr Zmrzlík, is a Czech writer. During the communist regime in Czechoslovakia he published his works in samizdat. He was clarinettist in the Plastic People of the Universe since 1983 and recorded two albums with this band: Hovězí porážka (1982) and Půlnoční myš (1986). Later he worked as a journalist for many newspapers, such as Respekt and Lidové noviny. In 1989, he was attacked by members of StB. They were punished in 2014.
Petr Zelenka is a Czech playwright and director of theatre and film. His films have been recognized at international festivals in Moscow and Rotterdam. In 2008, his film Karamazovi was the Czech Republic's official Oscar submission for Best Foreign Language Film.
Petras Babickas was a Lithuanian journalist, poet, writer, traveler, filmmaker, diplomat, and photographer who pioneered radio journalism and artistic photography in interwar Lithuania.
Petras Cvirka was a Lithuanian writer of several novels, children's books, and short story collections. He wrote under a variety of pen names: A. Cvingelis, Cezaris Petrėnas, J. K. Pavilionis, K. Cvirka, Kanapeikus, Kazys Gerutis, Klangis, Klangis Petras, Klangių Petras, L. P. Cvirka, Laumakys, P. Cvinglis, P. Cvirka-Rymantas, P. Gelmė, P. Veliuoniškis, Petras Serapinas, and S. Laumakys. His works have been translated into Belarusian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, English, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Polish, Romanian, and Uzbek.
