Stella Pevsner was an American author of children's books and works of young adult literature published since the late 1960s.

Dame Stella Rimington is a British author and former Director General of MI5, a position she held from 1992 to 1996. She was the first female DG of MI5, and the first DG whose name was publicised on appointment. In 1993, Rimington became the first DG of MI5 to pose openly for cameras at the launch of a brochure outlining the organisation's activities.

Stella Tillyard FRSL is an English author and historian, educated at Oxford and Harvard Universities and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In 1999 her bestselling book Aristocrats was made into a six-part series for BBC1/Masterpiece Theatre sold to over 20 countries. Winner of the Meilleur Livre Étranger, the Longman/History Today Prize and the Fawcett Prize, she has taught at Harvard; the University of California, Los Angeles; Birkbeck, London and the Centre for Editing Lives and Letters at Queen Mary, London. She is a visiting professor in the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology, Birkbeck, University of London, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.

Stella Whitelaw is a British writer and journalist, who has published 58 novels, as well as over 400 short stories in national women's magazines. She began her writing career as a cub reporter and rose to become the first female chief reporter in London. Her writing career, over half a century, includes romance, cat stories, detective fiction, mystery, writing skills, and human nature.

Sten Nadolny is a German novelist. His parents, Burkhard and Isabella Nadolny, were also writers.

Sten Selander was a Swedish writer and scientist. He made his literary debut in 1916, and was awarded the Dobloug Prize in 1952. He was a lecturer in plant biology in Uppsala, and was a member of the Swedish Academy.

Marie-Henri Beyle, better known by his pen name Stendhal, was a 19th-century French writer. Best known for the novels Le Rouge et le Noir and La Chartreuse de Parme, he is highly regarded for the acute analysis of his characters' psychology and considered one of the early and foremost practitioners of realism. A self-proclaimed egotist, he coined the same characteristic in his characters' "Beylism".

Stepan Andrianovich Kalinin was a Soviet army commander. He fought in the Imperial Russian Army during World War I before going over to the Bolsheviks during the subsequent civil war. He was promoted to Komkor in 1938. He was a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He was a recipient of the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner. He retired at the age of 56.
