Yuri Pavlovich Kazakov was a Russian author of short stories, often compared to Anton Chekhov and Ivan Bunin. Born in Moscow, he started out as a jazz musician, but turned to publishing his stories in 1952. He attended the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute, graduating in 1958.
Yury Solomonovich Krymov is the pen name of Soviet novelist Yury Solomonovich Beklemishev. The variants Yuri Krimov and Iurii Krymov are common transliterations.
Yury Mikhailovich Luzhkov was a Russian politician who served as mayor of Moscow from 1992 to 2010. Before the election of Gavriil Popov as the first mayor of Moscow, he also headed the capital in 1990-1991 as chairman of the Mosgorispolkom. He was the vice-chairman and one of the founders of the ruling United Russia party. During Luzhkov's time, Moscow's economy expanded and he presided over large construction projects in the city, including the building of a new financial district. At the same time, he was accused of corruption, bulldozing historic buildings, and poor handling of traffic, as well as the city's smog crisis during the 2010 Russian wildfires. On 28 September 2010, Luzhkov was fired from his post by a decree issued by then-President Dmitry Medvedev.
Yuri Ignatievich Mukhin is a Soviet and later Russian engineer, public activist, researcher and writer. One of the most criminally prosecuted by the Russian authorities – since the beginning of the century he was the defendant in several dozens of lawsuits, accused and defendant in three criminal cases. In July 2015, Yury Mukhin and three other IGPR ZOV members were arrested and jailed in Moscow. In the resolution on initiation of criminal case of July 22, 2015

Yury Stepanovich Nechaev-Maltsov (1834–1913) was a leading glassware manufacturer, Landlord, patron of the arts, and the major private donor to the Pushkin Museum. He owned a number of shops in Moscow and St. Petersburg where the glassware produced by his factories in Gus-Khrustalny was sold. Russia's biggest fairs were supplied with his glass products.
Yury Karlovich Olesha was a Russian and Soviet novelist. He is considered one of the greatest Russian novelists of the 20th century, one of the few to have succeeded in writing works of lasting artistic value despite the stifling censorship of the era. His works are delicate balancing acts that superficially send pro-Communist messages but reveal far greater subtlety and richness upon a deeper reading. Sometimes, he is grouped with his friends Ilf and Petrov, Isaac Babel, and Sigismund Krzhizhanovsky into the Odessa School of Writers.
