David Ashworth Gates is a retired American singer-songwriter, guitarist, musician and producer, frontman and co-lead singer of the group Bread, which reached the top of the musical charts in Europe and North America on several occasions in the 1970s. The band was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

David Gauntlett is a British sociologist and media theorist, and the author of several books including Making is Connecting.

David Andrew Gemmell was a British author of heroic fantasy, best known for his debut novel, Legend. A former journalist and newspaper editor, Gemmell had his first work of fiction published in 1984. He went on to write over thirty novels. Gemmell's works display violence, yet also explore themes of honour, loyalty and redemption. There is always a strong heroic theme but nearly always the heroes are flawed in some way. With over one million copies sold, his work continues to sell worldwide.

David George Ritchie was a Scottish philosopher who had a distinguished university career at Edinburgh, and Balliol College, Oxford, and after being fellow of Jesus College and a tutor at Balliol College was elected professor of logic and metaphysics at St Andrews. David Gerrold is an American science fiction screenwriter and novelist. He wrote the script for the original Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", created the Sleestak race on the TV series Land of the Lost, and wrote the novelette "The Martian Child", which won both Hugo and Nebula Awards, and was adapted into a 2007 film starring John Cusack.

David Jon Gilmour is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter, who is a member of the rock band Pink Floyd. He joined as guitarist and co-lead vocalist in 1967, shortly before the departure of founding member Syd Barrett. Pink Floyd achieved international success with the concept albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), The Wall (1979) and The Final Cut (1983). By the early 1980s, they had become one of the highest-selling and most acclaimed acts in music history; by 2012, they had sold more than 250 million records worldwide, including 75 million in the United States. Following the departure of Roger Waters in 1985, Pink Floyd continued under Gilmour's leadership and released three more studio albums.

David R. Goldfield is an American historian, writer, film director, and professor. He is a long-time supporter of the Democratic Party. He is the author of sixteen books, including Black, White, and Southern: Race Relations and Southern Culture and Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers. Both of these books were nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Currently, he is the Robert Lee Bailey Professor of History at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.

David Charles Gooding was a Professor of History and Philosophy of Science, and the Director of the Science Studies Centre, at the University of Bath, UK. He was President of the History of Science Section of the BAAS (2002–2003).

David Loeb Goodis was an American writer of crime fiction noted for his output of short stories and novels in the noir fiction genre. Born in Philadelphia, Goodis alternately resided there and in New York City and Hollywood during his professional years. According to critic Dennis Drabelle, "Despite his [university] education, a combination of ethnicity (Jewish) and temperament allowed him to empathize with outsiders: the working poor, the unjustly accused, fugitives, criminals."

David Mark Goss was a mathematician, a professor in the department of mathematics at Ohio State University, and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Number Theory. He received his B.S. in mathematics in 1973 from University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in 1977 from Harvard University under the supervision of Barry Mazur; prior to Ohio State he held positions at Princeton University, Harvard, the University of California, Berkeley, and Brandeis University. He worked on function fields and introduced the Goss zeta function.
