Erlend Loe is a Norwegian novelist, screenwriter and film critic. Loe writes both children's and adult literature. He has gained popularity in Scandinavia with his humorous and sometimes naïve novels, although his stories have become darker in tone, moving towards a more satirical criticism of modern Norwegian society.

Yermil Ivanovich Kostrov was the first to translate the Iliad into Russian. His father was a peasant from the Vyatka Governorate. Kostrov was educated in the Slavic Greek Latin Academy and received an annual pension from the Moscow University for odes and other poems he would write for special occasions. He lived in abject poverty and was prone to alcoholism. Apart from light verse and a book of odes, he also produced the first Russian translations of Ossian's poems and The Golden Ass.

Erminia Fuà Fusinato was an Italian poet and educator, best remembered for her verses based on the Ars Poetica method. Born to a Jewish family, she established herself as an important poet in the Kingdom of Lombardy–Venetia, and is widely remembered as one of the most influential poets of Italian literature of the 19th century.

Ermoldus Nigellus, or Niger—translated Ermold the Black, or Ermoald, was a poet who lived at the court of Pippin of Aquitaine, son of Frankish Emperor Louis I, and accompanied him on a campaign into Brittany in 824. Ermoldus was a cultured man with a knowledge of the Latin poets, and his poem, In honorem Hludovici imperatoris, has some historical value. It consists of four books and deals with the life and exploits of Louis from 781 to 826. He also wrote two poems in imitation of Ovid, which were addressed to Pippin.

Ernest Albert Baker (1869–1941) was an author, and editor of English fiction, dictionaries, and librarianship, besides books and journalism on outdoor activities, particularly caving. He wrote a standard reference, The History of the English Novel, first published in ten volumes between 1924 and 1939. Baker also wrote A Guide to Historical Fiction (1914), an overview of Historical fiction in novels and short stories. His caving books were Moors, Crags and Caves of the High Peak and Neighbourhood (1900); (with Herbert E. Balch), The Netherworld of Mendip; Explorations in the Great Caverns of Somerset, Yorkshire, Derbyshire & Elsewhere (1907), and Caving; Episodes of Underground Exploration (1932).

Ernest Albert, born Ernest Albert Brown, was an American painter, illustrator, muralist, and scenic designer. He was a prolific scenic designer, first in Saint Louis and Chicago and then on Broadway. He is considered a major American landscape painter and was elected the first president of the Allied Artists of America in 1919.
