The Goncourt brothers were Edmond de Goncourt (1822–1896) and Jules de Goncourt (1830–1870), both French naturalism writers who, as collaborative sibling authors, were inseparable in life.

Gong Zizhen Chinese: 龔自珍; Wade–Giles: Kung Tzu-chen; 1792–1841), courtesy name(zi) Seren, literary name (hao) Ding'an, was a Chinese poet, calligrapher and intellectual active in the 19th century whose works both foreshadowed and influenced the modernization movements of the late Qing dynasty.

Gongsun Long, courtesy name Zibing (子秉), was a Chinese philosopher and writer who was a member of the School of Names (Logicians) of ancient Chinese philosophy. He also ran a school and enjoyed the support of rulers, and advocated peaceful means of resolving disputes in contrast to the wars which were common in the Warring States period. However, little is known about the particulars of his life, and furthermore many of his writings have been lost. All of his essays—fourteen originally but only six extant—are included in the anthology the Gongsun Longzi.

Gonzague Saint Bris was an award-winning French novelist, biographer, and journalist. He won the 2002 Prix Interallié for Les Vieillards de Brighton. He was the founder of La Forêt des livres, an annual book festival, and the Cabourg Film Festival. He was also a juror for the prix Contrepoint, a French literary award. With his family, he was a co-proprietor of Clos Lucé.

Gonzalo Celorio Blasco is a writer and an academic and former director of the Fondo de Cultura Económica. Celorio has written two novels, Amor Propio, a coming-of-age story and Y retiemble en sus centros la Tierra.

Gonzalo de Berceo was a Castilian Spanish poet born in the Riojan village of Berceo, close to the major Benedictine monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla. He is celebrated for his poems on religious subjects, written in a style of verse which has been called Mester de Clerecía, shared with more secular productions such as the Libro de Alexandre, the Libro de Apolonio. He is considered the first Castilian poet known by name.

Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo y Valdés, commonly known as Oviedo, was a Spanish soldier, historian, writer, botanist and colonist. Oviedo participated in the Spanish colonization of the West Indies, arriving in the first few years after Christopher Columbus became the first European to arrive at the islands in 1492. Oviedo's chronicle Historia general de las Indias, published in 1535 to expand on his 1526 summary La Natural hystoria de las Indias, forms one of the few primary sources about it. Portions of the original text were widely read in the 16th century in Spanish, English, Italian and French editions, and introduced Europeans to the hammock, the pineapple, and tobacco as well as creating influential representations of the colonized peoples of the region.

Gonzalo Garcés is an Argentine editor and writer known for his writing on masculinity, and for his criticisms of feminism. He also contributes to newspapers and magazines such as La Nación, Clarín, El Mercurio, Reforma, Brecha, Gatopardo, Perfil, El País and Quimera.

Gonzalo Rojas Pizarro was a Chilean poet. His work is part of the continuing Latin American avant-garde literary tradition of the twentieth century. In 2003 he was awarded the Cervantes Prize.
