Grigoriy Lvovitch Bondarevsky was a Russian academician, writer, historian, Indologist and a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the erstwhile Soviet Union. He was the author of 27 books and over 300 articles, majority of them covering Asian topics. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri in 2000.

Grigory Yakovlevich Baklanov was a Soviet and Russian writer, well known for his novels about World War II, and as the editor of the literary magazine Znamya. Becoming the editor in 1986, during Mikhail Gorbachev's reforms, Baklanov published the works that were previously banned by Soviet censors; his drive for glasnost boosted the magazine's circulation to 1 million copies.

Grigory Maksimovich Bongard-Levin (1933–2008) was a Russian historian specializing on Ancient India and the history of Central Asia. He also published on the history of Russian emigration. He was a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and was awarded the USSR State Prize in 1988. In 2006 he was awarded India's third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan which ranked below Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan for his contribution in the field of Ancient India history

Grigory Naumovich Chukhray was a Ukrainian Soviet and Russian film director and screenwriter. People's Artist of the USSR (1981). He's the father of the Russian film director Pavel Chukhray.

Grigory Petrovich Danilevsky was a Russian historical novelist, and Privy Councillor of Russia. Danilevsky is well known as the author of the novel Beglye v Novorossii.

Grigory Avetovich Dzhanshiyev was Russian lawyer, publicist and historian of Armenian descent. A Moscow University alumnus, Dzhanshiyev authored 25 books, the best-known of which, On the Times of the Great Reform, was re-issued several times in his lifetime and is considered one of the best treatises on Alexander II's reforms in law and jurisdiction. Dzhanshiyev was also one of the authors of the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary.
