Grigory Yefimovich Grum-Grshimailo was a Russian zoologist best known for his expeditions to Central Asia, western Mongolia and Tuva, and the Russian Far East. In literature his name is sometimes spelled as Grigor Efimowitsch Grumm-Grzhimailo or Grigory Yefimovich Grumm-Grzhimaylo.
Grigory Vasilyevich Kozitsky was a Russian writer and journalist of Ukrainian origin, Cabinet Secretary of Catherine II (1768–1774), who helped her in the publication of the magazine Vsyakaya Vsyachina.
Prince Grigory Vasilyevich Kugushev was a Russian writer, poet and playwright whose comedies, including Goluboi Kapot, Pari, Priyomysh had considerable, if not lasting, success in the Russian Imperial Theatres in 1850s. More substantial and critically acclaimed were Kugushev's works of fiction, notably Kornet Otletayev and the four-part novel Postoronneye Vliyaniye. He also wrote the libretto for the epic drama opera Mazeppa (1859) by Baron
Boris Fitinhof-Schell.
Grigory Samuilovich Landsberg was a Soviet physicist who worked in the fields of optics and spectroscopy. Together with Leonid Mandelstam he co-discovered inelastic combinational scattering of light, which is known as Raman scattering.
Grigory Yakovlevich Levenfish was a Soviet chess player who scored his peak competitive results in the 1920s and 1930s. He was twice Soviet champion, in 1934 and 1937. In 1937 he drew a match against future world champion Mikhail Botvinnik. In 1950 Levenfish was among the first recipients of the title of Grandmaster, awarded by FIDE that year for the first time.
