Halyna Vasylivna Pahutiak is a Ukrainian writer known for her fantasy fiction. Combining "magic realism's hermetic style with popular genres and vampire themes", Pahutiak's stories employ "fantastic metamorphoses, maternal female visions, and infantile dreams". Her novel The Servant of Dobtomyl (2006) won the 2010 Shevchenko National Prize in Literature.

Hambardzum Paylaki Galstyan was an Armenian politician and historian who served as the Chairman of the Yerevan City Council from 1990 to 1992 and was a prominent member of the Karabakh Committee. He was murdered by unknown assailants in December 1994.

Hamid Algar is a British-American Professor Emeritus of Persian studies at the Faculty of Near Eastern Studies, University of California, Berkeley. He writes on Persian and Arabic literature and contemporary history of Iran, Turkey, the Balkans and Afghanistan. He served on the UC Berkeley faculty for 45 years. Algar remains an active scholar and his research has concentrated on the Islamic history of the Perso-Turkish world, with particular emphasis on Iranian Shi'ism during the past two centuries and the Naqshbandi Sufi order. Algar is a Shia Muslim.

Hamid Olimjon was an Uzbek poet, playwright, scholar, and literary translator of the Soviet period. Hamid Olimjon is considered to be one of the finest twentieth-century Uzbek poets. The Uzbek Soviet Encyclopedia calls him "one of the founders of Uzbek Soviet literature". In addition to writing his own poetry, Hamid Olimjon translated the works of many famous foreign authors, such as Alexander Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy, Maxim Gorky, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Taras Shevchenko, and Mikhail Lermontov into the Uzbek language.
