Mikhail Samuelevich Gendelev was a Russian poet who for many years lived in Israel. He is referred as one of the founders Russian-language literature of Israel.

Mikhail Prokofyevich Gerasimov was one of the most widely read working-class poets in early-twentieth-century Russia. Initially embracing the Bolshevik Revolution as a liberating event and participating in the effort to create a new proletarian culture, following the New Economic Policy he became disillusioned and was imprisoned during the Joseph Stalin era.

Mikhail Yurievich German was a Soviet and Russian writer, art historian, doctor of art criticism, professor, and member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA), International Council of Museums (ICOM), International PEN Club, Union of Russian Writers, Union of Journalists of St. Petersburg and the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). He was a leading researcher at the Russian Museum.

Mikhail Osipovich Gershenzon was a Russian scholar, essayist and editor. He studied history, philosophy, and political science at Moscow University, graduating in 1894. From graduation until the Bolshevik revolution he was unable to obtain an official academic position because he was Jewish. He was a literary reviewer for Nauchnoe Slovo from 1903 to 1905 and for Vestnik Evropy in 1907–08, and was literary editor of Kriticheskoe Obozrenie, 1907–09. He had a common-law relationship with Maria Goldenveizer from 1904 ; they had a daughter and a son. In 1909 he edited the famous essay collection Vekhi, for which he wrote the introduction and an essay.

Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka was the first Russian composer to gain wide recognition within his own country and is often regarded as the fountainhead of Russian classical music. His compositions were an important influence on other Russian composers, notably the members of The Five, who produced a distinctive Russian style of music.

Mikhail Fabianovich Gnessin was a Russian Jewish composer and teacher. Gnessin's works The Maccabeans and The Youth of Abraham earned him the nickname the "Jewish Glinka".

Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev was a Soviet and Russian politician who served as the eighth and final leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 to the country's dissolution in 1991. He served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1985 and additionally as head of state beginning in 1988, as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet from 1988 to 1989, Chairman of the Supreme Soviet from 1989 to 1990 and the only President of the Soviet Union from 1990 to 1991. Ideologically, Gorbachev initially adhered to Marxism–Leninism but moved towards social democracy by the early 1990s.

Mikhail Viktorovich Gorbanevsky is a Soviet and Russian linguist. His studies include general and Russian onomastics, toponymy and lexicology, forensic linguistic expertise, Slavic studies and speech culture, Russian language in computer technologies. He earned his Doctor of Philology in 1994. He became a Professor of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia in 1996.
