Mikhail Suprun Михаил Николаевич Супрун is a Russian historian and professor of the Pomor State named after M. V. Lomonosov, now Northern (Arctic) Federal University. In 2009 he was arrested in connection with a book he wrote on what Open Democracy has called a "trumped up charge".
Mikhail Vasilyevich Sushkov (1775–1792) was a young Russian nobleman and writer of a small body of prose and poetry, notable for his autobiographical suicide novel. He committed suicide by hanging at age 16 after writing four suicide notes, one of which was to his uncle Alexander Khrapovitsky, at that moment personal secretary of empress Catherine the Great. Empress Catherine is said to have told Khrapovitskiy: "I am sorry for his parents, who lost such a fine son. But most of all I am sorry for himself. If he had stayed alive, he soon would have outshone Voltaire". Sushkov’s suicide notes, the report on his death by the Moscow police, and reactions by contemporaries, not only document the suicide in great detail, but give a rare close-up of a phenomenon that was seen as a highly significant ‘sign of the time’.
Mikhail Stepanovich Svechnikov was a Russian military officer in the Imperial Russian Army and the Red Army. He is best known as one of the military leaders of the Red Guards in the 1918 Finnish Civil War.
Mikhail Isaievich Tanich (Tankhilevich) (Russian: Михаил Исаевич Танич) (September 15, 1923 – April 17, 2008) was a popular Russian song lyrics writer, a laureate of the Interior Ministry Award (1997), a laureate of the jubilee contest The Song of the Year devoted to the 25th anniversary of that television program, a laureate of nearly all the annual festivals The Song of the Year, and a laureate of the Ovation National Music Award (1997).
Baron Mikhail Alexandrovich Taube was a famous Russian international lawyer, statesman and legal historian. Being a Catholic converted from Russian Orthodoxy, Taube came from an old Swedish-German family von Taube, known from the 13th century, one of the branches of Baltic Germans in the service of the Russian throne.
Mikhail Osipovich Tsetlin was a Russian poet, dramatist, novelist, memoirist, revolutionary and translator better known under his pen name Amari (Амари). In the late 1918, facing persecution by the Bolsheviks, Tsetlin left the Soviet Russia for France. In 1923, he founded Okno literary magazine, which published three issues and was later re-established by Tsetlin's distant relative, the poet Anatoly Kudryavitsky as a web-only journal after a lapse of some 83 years. In Paris, Tsetlin's home was open to Russian émigré artists, for whom he often provided. He earned respect as a philanthropist and a literary entrepreneur. In 1940 Tsetlin moved to the USA where he, together with Mark Aldanov, founded Novy Zhurnal magazine in 1942.
