Nikolay Platonovich Andreyev was a pioneering Russian photographer and photo artist.

Nikolay Nikolayevich Anichkov was a prominent pathologist of Russian heritage. Anichkov first described the specialized myocardial cells and discovered the significance and role of cholesterol in atherosclerosis pathogenesis. In 1958, in an editorial in Annals of Internal Medicine, William Dock compared the significance of the classic work of Anichkov to that of the discovery of the tubercle bacillus by Robert Koch. American biochemist D. Steinberg wrote: "If the full significance of his findings had been appreciated at the time, we might have saved more than 30 years in the long struggle to settle the cholesterol controversy and Anitschkow might have won a Nobel Prize". Anichkov elaborated on the doctrines of reticuloendothelial system and autogenic infections.

Nikolai Mikhaylovich Artemov was a Soviet Russian physiologist, Doktor Nauk in Biological Sciences (1969), Honorary Professor at the N. I. Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod. He is known as the founder of scientific apitherapy. In 1957, the USSR Ministry of Health sanctioned the use of bee venom in the treatment of certain ailments. It was the "Instruction for Bee Sting Venom Apitherapy" by N.M. Artemov, who authored the document.

Nikolay Mikhailovich Baranov was a lieutenant general, Mayor of Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod Military Governor, a senator. Inventor of the Baranov Rifle, Model 1869.

Nikolay Nikolayevich Baransky was a Soviet economic geographer, founder of Soviet Rayon (Regional) school of economic geography, and corresponding member of Soviet Academy of Sciences (1939); he was a Hero of Socialist Labour (1962) and winner of the Stalin Prize (1952).
