Shamim Sarif is a British novelist and filmmaker of South Asian and South African heritage. Her work often focuses on various aspects of identity including gender, race, and sexuality.
Shamini Flint is an author based in Singapore. She is best known for her crime fiction novel series Inspector Singh Investigates, published in many languages around the world. She also writes children’s books with cultural and environmental themes. Before becoming a writer in 2004 she was a corporate lawyer at the international law firm, Linklaters. She is noted for her work to promote fair trade products in Singapore and donates part of her environmental book title’s proceeds to WWF. Shamini currently lives in Singapore with her English husband Simon Flint and their two children, Sasha and Spencer Flint.
Shams-i Tabrīzī or Shams al-Din Mohammad (1185–1248) was a Persian Shafi'ite poet, who is credited as the spiritual instructor of Mewlānā Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhi, also known as Rumi and is referenced with great reverence in Rumi's poetic collection, in particular Diwan-i Shams-i Tabrīzī . Tradition holds that Shams taught Rumi in seclusion in Konya for a period of forty days, before fleeing for Damascus. The tomb of Shams-i Tabrīzī was recently nominated to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Khawaja Shamsuddin Azeemi is a Pakistani scholar in the field of spiritualism and a Sufi master. He is the current head of the Azeemia Sufi order. He has written books on the subject of spirituality or Muraqaba and is the chief editor of the monthly Roohani Digest and Qalander Shaoor in Karachi, Pakistan. Moreover, he has established a chain of fifty-three meditation halls worldwide.
Shan Sa is the pseudonym of Yan Ni, a French author and painter. The Girl Who Played Go was the first of her novels to be published outside France, and won the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens. Her second novel to appear in English translation was Empress (2006). She was awarded chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in July 2009 and chevalier of the Ordre national du Mérite in May 2011.
