Adolf Michaelis was a German classical scholar, a professor of art history at the University of Strasbourg from 1872, who helped establish the connoisseurship of Ancient Greek sculpture and Roman sculpture on their modern footing. Just at the cusp of the introduction of photography as a tool of art history, Michaelis pioneered in supplementing his descriptions with sketches.
Adolf Michaelis, cuyo nombre completo era Theodor Heinrich Adolf Michaelis, fue un arqueólogo y académico alemán, nacido en Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein) el 22 de junio de 1835, que murió en Estrasburgo el 12 de agosto de 1910.
Fue profesor de arqueología en la Universidad de Greifswald, la de Tubinga (1865-1872) y la Universidad Kaiser-Wilhelms (1872-1907). Fue un erudito clásico alemán, profesor de historia del arte en la Universidad de Estrasburgo desde 1872, quien ayudó a establecer el conocimiento de la escultura griega antigua y la escultura romana en su posición moderna. Amandus Gottfried Adolf Müllner (1774–1829) oli saksalainen kirjailija. Müllnerin esikoisteos oli romaani Inzest. Hänen kohtalotragediansa Der neunundzwanzigste Februar (1812), Die Schuld, König Yngurd (1817) ja Die Albaneserin (1820) ovat Zacharias Wernerin työn jäljittelyä ja jatkoa.
