Valeriy Fridrikhovich Pisigin (Russian: Вале́рий Фри́дрихович Писи́гин; born September 21, 1957) is a Russian writer; historian; blues, British and American folk music researcher; and former political activist.
Valeriy Soldatenko is a Ukrainian historian and professor, member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine since 2006. Soldatenko was a member of Communist Party of Ukraine, which he joined in 1969. In 2014, Soldatenko was appointed by then Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych as the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, a decision which proved controversial due to Soldatenko's support for the Soviet Union and denial of the Holodomor as a genocide. After the Ukrainian Revolution, Soldatenko was forced to resign from his post, and since then, he has been a chief researcher at the I. F. Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnonational Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Valeriya is a stage name of Alla Yurievna Perfilova, a Russian singer and fashion model. Valeriya, who is a recipient of the titles People's Artist of Russia (2013) and People's Artist of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (2016), has also won numerous awards, including Golden Gramophone (thirteen), Pesnya goda (thirteen), Muz-TV, and MTV Russia Music Awards. She has been a member of the Council for Culture and Art under the President of the Russian Federation since 2012.
Valeriya Ilyinichna Novodvorskaya was a Soviet dissident, writer and liberal politician. She was the founder and the chairwoman of the Democratic Union party and a member of the editorial board of The New Times.
Valery Pavlovich Alekseyev was a Russian anthropologist, director of the Institute of Archaeology in Moscow (1987–1991) and member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, exceptionally without having been a member of the Communist Party.
