Vaidya Bhagwan Dash was an Indian author and scholar in the field of Ayurvedic and Tibetan Medicine.

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, popularly referred to as Beypore Sulthan, was a writer of Malayalam literature. He was a writer, humanist, freedom fighter, novelist and short story writer, noted for his path-breaking, down-to-earth style of writing that made him equally popular among literary critics as well as the common man. His notable works include Balyakalasakhi, Shabdangal, Pathummayude Aadu, Ntuppuppakkoranendarnnu, Mathilukal, Janmadinam and Anargha Nimisham and the translations of his works into other languages have earned him worldwide acclaim. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honor of the Padma Shri in 1982. He was also a recipient of the Sahitya Academy Fellowship, Kerala Sahitya Academy Fellowship, and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Story. He was a recipient of the Vallathol Award in 1993.

Väino Ilus is an Estonian writer. He was born in Viljandi.

Väinö Kirstinä was a Finnish poet, journalist, translator and critic. He worked for the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation. He was the recipient of the Eino Leino Prize in 1981.

Väinö Linna was a Finnish author. He gained literary fame with his third novel, Tuntematon sotilas, and consolidated his position with the trilogy Täällä Pohjantähden alla. Both have been adapted to a film format on several occasions; The Unknown Soldier was first adapted into a film in 1955 and Under the North Star in 1968 as Here, Beneath the North Star, both directed by Edvin Laine.

Vakhtang Stepani Ananyan was an Armenian writer. Ananyan was born in Poghoskilisa village, near Dilijan. His first work was published in the journal Pioner in 1927. He was a participant of World War II. He was awarded the Armenian State Prize in 1970. He died in 1980 in Yerevan, where a school is named after him.
