The melancholy accident which has happened to that ami-
able уоипд lady miss Fairfax, the only unmarried daughter
rear-admiral sir W. Geor. Fairfax, is а circumstance well known
to your excellency and which has deeply aflicted all her
friends, because her prospects in this life аге now at ап end;
and the only fortune which her unhappy parents сап leave
her, is little more than а good education. The long services
sir W. Geor. Fairfax are known to m-r Pitt, and it woold only
be necessary to state to him tbis cruel event, to obtain for
this unhappy уоипд lady а provision from government during
her life, and help to alleviate the additional disiress which
this renection causes to her aged parents. But as I have not
the honour 0f being known to m-r Pitt, it is only through your
kind interference that сап expect to have it done. ат too
sensible of your sympalhising fbelings оп this unfortunate
occasion, to таке ап apology for troubling уои with these
lines, and сап only add that this mark 0f your benevolence
will confer а lasting obligation оп your excellency's most faith-
ful etc.
