spread all around and the Turkish garrison under Ach-

met-Pacha, consisting of several thousand теп and

54 pieces of саппоп, surrendered to us. after exchang-

ing а few shots.

In the following 0ctober the whole of the army

marched through Sistova ироп Nicopol, and that place

having immediately surrendered, the general-in-chief

gave те the command of а separate expedition to

таКе а reconnaissance in the mountains 0f the Small

Balkans, and of [he Turkish towns of Plewna and Lowt-

cha. I had the good fortune of doing even тоте than

wha[ was prescribed to те: Plewna and Lowtcha sur-

rendered, and 1 also took possession of the fortifed

town 0f Selvi, in the Balkans. The Turkish garrison

fled abandoning baggage and artillery. I received for

this expedition the order of St. Апп of the l-st class,

and for the part I had taken in battle of Batine

and the taking 0f Sistova, the order of St. Wladimir

3-rd class, and а separate rescript of thanks from the

Emperor.—Here ended the campaign of 1810.

I had been appointed commander of the 3-rd brigade

in the l2-th division 0f infantry. This division was
